iNKED UP
Bringing together internationally renowned tattoo artists with creators and lovers of all things ink, Inked Up celebrated the artistry of tattoos and the people who wear them. We showcased tattoo artists from around the world, displaying newly commissioned original works which translate their unique designs and style to paper.
Flash sheet influenced works were shown alongside contemporary artists for whom the inclusion of tattoos and tattoo culture within their practice is either a natural fit or an exciting new addition - Inked Up highlighted a fresh perspective on the broad and age-old theme of "the tattoo".
Bringing our editioning expertise to the show, Bee commissioned 30 new original works on paper, and four sell-out print releases. Bee assessed the works of various tattoo artists and created editions that became fine art prints, with the urban contemporary twist that made them so popular.
The printed editions for this exhibition were all repro prints where a new addition such as gold ink or a halftone screenprint was added. This allowed artists who are usually limited to inking skin to explore the impact that different materials and experimentation of scale can have on their designs, under Bee’s expert guidance.
